Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase

Regional event for a wider knowledge and mutual recognition of the Caribbean identities and cultures, diffused by visions that reach beyond stereotypes imposed by the hegemonic centers of AV production, often ignoring the cultural wealth and diversity of our peoples.

The Program will present eight productions, as varied as the region. The restored version of the Cuban and Latin American classic Memorias del Subdesarrollo (1968) by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea will be exhibited, which presents a lucid and ironic view of Cuban society and the revolutionary energy of the 1960s, from the perspective of an isolated bourgeois. Caballos (Cuba, 2015), first film by Fabián Suárez, who revisits the historical and aesthetic experience of Gutiérrez Alea's masterpiece from new points of view.
 

On the intense trajectory of the Cuban patriot Ignacio Agramonte (1841-1873), his legendary love with Amalia Simoni and the conflicts he faced in his life, will try the new film by the filmmaker Rigoberto López who will start shooting from January 2018, in the province of Camagüey.

LA HABANA (Sputnik) The national coordinators of the Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase will make concerted efforts in Cuba in search of financial sustainability and greater visibility, Rigoberto López, president of this regional project, told Sputnik.
